The military macaw  is a striking parrot species native to Central and South America, known for its vivid green plumage and bold red forehead. Measuring about 70–80 cm in length, it also features blue flight feathers and a long, graceful tail tinged with red and blue. These birds inhabit tropical forests and mountainous regions, often nesting in cliff faces or tree cavities. Military macaws are social and intelligent, forming strong pair bonds and communicating through loud squawks and screeches. Their diet consists mainly of seeds, fruits, and nuts. Sadly, habitat loss and illegal pet trade have led to their classification as vulnerable. With proper care, they can live up to 50 years in captivity, making them long-term companions.
